Puako's real estate is comprised of approximately 160 lots - half on either side of the sole road that ambles along the coast for approximately 3 miles from Wailea Bay on the north to Paniau on the south. Puako is the only real oceanfront community on the Kohala Coast outside of the Resorts and appeals to those who prefer the freedom of not being controlled by CC&Rs and other rules to the convenience of living within a resort and having access to dedicated amenities.
